Wealthy, handsome, charming, fashion-forward. Bae In-hyuk is the epitome of an eligible bachelor.
So of course, the South Korean actor will be in Flushing for Singles’ Day on Saturday, Nov. 9, and Sunday, Nov. 10.
Modeled after a popular Asian activity, these two one-day events encourage singles to learn about beauty and fashion trends while building personal connections. To take place at The Shops at Skyview, events include a fashion runway, a flash fashion swap, style demonstrations, an interactive photo booth, a t-shirt station, and a fashion party.
And then there’s the first-ever United States appearance of Bae, who has starred in television dramas (i.e. My Roommate Is a Gumiho), web films (i.e. Love Buzz), and web dramas (i.e. XX). The 26-year-old, who has about 2.5 million social media followers, has also represented such luxury brands as Bulgari and Givenchy.
Here’s the schedule. (Some events are free; some cost money.)
Nov. 9 on Level 4
Skyview Runway (2 pm to 3 pm): A fashion show featuring the fall/winter collection of such brands as Adidas, Converse, Foot Locker, Nike, Old Navy, Target, and Uniqlo.

“We are excited to be the first U.S. shopping center to launch an Asian-themed ‘Singles’ Day’ event to recognize the important and most enjoyable aspects of being single, something we believe is incredibly important as we head into the holiday timeframe,” stated Wesley Sin, regional marketing manager for ShopCore Properties, Skyview’s owner and manager. “With this event, we are empowering singles to live their best lives, enjoy every moment of their single time, and know that there are other singles out there who are interested in networking and forging lasting friendships with one another.”
Traditionally celebrated on Nov. 11 (the four ones: 11/11), Singles’ Day celebrations began in China as an unofficial holiday marked by large sales events. In South Korea, participants often share 1-shaped chocolate-covered pretzel sticks called “pepero” as tokens of affection or friendship similar to what Americans do on Valentine’s Day.
Located at 40-24 College Point Blvd., Skyview is a multi-level commercial hub with a large parking section. It’s a few blocks from the 7 train’s Flushing-Main St station.
