Expect maize and potted meat, but you might have to order off-menu for the wild game and pigeon.
Queens County Farm Museum kicks off its 18th Century Tavern Night program on Friday, Nov. 8, at 8 pm. It will then run until Dec. 28.
The roughly three-hour nights are really trips back in time. Properly dressed waiters serve Colonial Era fare cooked over a hearth and made from traditional local recipes in the on-site Adriance Farmhouse, which dates to circa 1772. Participants use appropriate utensils and dine by the light of flame-free candles. (Menus, which vary, will be announced later.)
Tickets cost $95, and there’s a little secret: fresh beer, wine, cider, and themed cocktails will be available.
All Tavern Nights are scheduled for 8 pm with the remaining ones on Nov. 15, Dec. 7, Dec. 13, Dec. 14, Dec. 20, and Dec. 28.
Queens Farm is at 73-50 Little Neck Pkwy. in Glen Oaks. Public transportation options are few, but a large, free parking lot is near the entrance.
