The Queens New Music Festival will unfold at the Secret Theatre in Long Island City every day until May 20.
Organized by Random Access Music, this seventh annual event features a wide array of composers and ensembles offering completely new pieces. (Most of the musicians are based in the borough.)
The kicks off with a concert by the Queens College New Music Group with the RAM Players String Quartet on May 16. The rest of the schedule is as follows.
May 17
Four Decades of Exploration at 8 pm. Music written in every decade from 1970 until the present day, spanning several continents and countries (United States, United Kingdom, Turkey, Estonia, Argentina). The moods go from dreamy and improvisatory to rhythmic and dance-like.
