#NewsFlash | Savor Diverse Flavors at a Restaurant Crawl on July 11-12
BY QEDC It's In Queens
It’s time to PYMWYMIQ!
Queens Tourism Council Official Foodie Joe DiStefano and the nonprofit advocacy agency Queens Together will lead a food crawl through two restaurant-rich neighborhoods on Saturday, July 11, and Sunday, July 12.
Call it the “PYMWYMIQ (Put Your Money Where Your Mouth is Queens) Adventure.”
The rules are simple. Intrepid eaters purchase PYMWYMIQ—which features inside info on Jackson Heights and Elmhurst eateries that sell cuisine from China, Colombia, India, Indonesia, Mexico, and Thailand—online for $20. Then DiStefano, a culinary expert who runs the local eats blog Chopsticks & Marrow, will e-mail it on July 11 at 11 am. The consumption begins that day at noon. Participants are asked to gather at Diversity Plaza, which is located in the vicinity of 37th Road and 74th Street, but wandering is encouraged.
The fun includes an Instagram food photo contest. First place is a $100 gift certificate to the PYMWYMIQ restaurant of the winner’s choice. The runner-up gets a $50 certificate. The third place prize is a $25 certificate.
PYMWYMIQ benefits Queens Together, which was formed this past spring to feed health care workers who were treating COVID-19 patients in local hospitals. It later became a nonprofit membership organization for the hospitality industry.
“This is a great way to enjoy the weekend in Queens. Stroll, eat, stroll and eat some more while checking out the most diverse of global neighborhoods,” opined Queens Together Executive Director Jonathan Forgash. “Joe and I will be at Diversity Plaza to start things off. We look forward to meeting everyone!”
