#Newsflash | Queens Welcomes None Other Than Melissa Manchester!
BY QEDC It's In Queens
Melissa Manchester is coming!
The Grammy-winning singer will perform at Queensborough Performing Arts Center on Sunday, March 19, at 3 pm.
She’ll share the stage with her friend, the accomplished composer and pianist Billy Stritch. The audience can expect favorites from the Great American Songbook as well as such hits as “Midnight Blue” and “Don’t Cry Out Loud!”
Ticket prices run from $33 to $58.
Born in the Bronx in 1951 and educated at Manhattan’s High School of Performing Arts, Manchester began as one of Bette Midler’s backup singers and a jingle writer. She quickly made a name for herself in the Adult Contemporary genre in the 1970s with a series of top Billboard hits. Acting jobs on television, films and Broadway followed, while she also co-wrote songs for other stars and did a long stint as an adjunct professor at the USC Thornton School of Music.
She’s still going strong.
QPAC, which is currently celebrating 57 years of operation, is located at 222-05 56th Ave. in Bayside. The newly renovated theater has seats for about 900 people. A large parking lot in nearby.
