#Newsflash | Multi-Faceted Wellness Center to Offer Trauma Healing
BY QEDC It's In Queens
Acute trauma results from a single event. Chronic trauma derives from repeated and/or prolonged issues. Complex trauma comes from various events and is often interpersonal.
A new Queens business is about to offer a course to treat all forms.
Sacred Space Astoria launches Trauma 1 Training on Saturday, April 1, at 2:30 pm.
The four-hour experience takes a deep dive into how trauma affects everyday life. Through group discussion and lecture, participants learn what trauma feels like and how common it is in society. They also learn the malady’s neurobiological science and the brain/body connection of healing.
Open to the general public, Trauma 1’s goal is to inspire awareness and encourage further study. It’s for everybody, but teachers, health care workers, and social work professionals would definitely benefit.
General admission is $250, but teachers can attend for $150. Click here to enroll. Registrants are asked to bring a notebook, pen, and copy of Bessel Van der Kolk’s The Body Keeps the Score: Brain, Mind, and Body in the Healing of Trauma, which is available for purchase online and in Sacred Space’s lobby.
Located at 29-05 21st Ave., Sacred Space also offers yoga (including family and toddler), Reiki, intuitive readings, Thai yoga bodywork, Urban Zen Integrative Therapy, spirituality, and end-of-life companionship and support.
Editor’s note: Trauma II Training (click then scroll down) is a two-class program set for May 6 and May 7.
