#Newsflash | Armondo’s Italian Restaurant Celebrates 50 Years with — What Else? — Great Food on Sept. 11
BY QEDC It's In Queens
Richard M. Nixon was president, Don McLean was singing “American Pie,” and “The Godfather” was the hit movie in 1972, when Jerry and Patricia Crisci opened Armondo’s Italian Restaurant in Jackson Heights. The idea was to combine classic Northern and Southern Italian cuisine with a warm, friendly ambiance, great cooks, and experienced waiters.
Much has changed since then, but Armondo’s is still going strong, and the Criscis are preparing to host a Jubilee Street Feast on Sunday, Sept. 11, from 2 pm to 6 pm.
The roadway on Northern Boulevard will be closed to vehicular traffic in both directions between 73rd Street and 74th Street, and the Criscis will provide live entertainment, a selfie station, a film, and food, including their famous chicken parmigiana.
Attendance is free, and all are invited.
Editor’s note: Some might remember Armondo’s when it operated in the Brunson Building on the corner of 37th Avenue and 75th Street in Jackson Heights. It was there for 42 years until a fire destroyed the location in April 2014. Soon thereafter, the Criscis relocated to their current place at 73-16 Northern Blvd.
