Twist & Sprout on June 11 at noon. This family-friendly event is about healthy eating and exercise. Enjoy cooking demonstrations, bouncy houses, herb-potting, fruit-and-veggie crafts, and live music. Meet medical experts from NewYork-Presbyterian Queens, curl up with a book in the Queens Mobile Library, and take a peek inside a real ambulance. Free. Queens Botanical Garden, 43-50 Main St., Flushing.
Piano Concoctions on June 10 11 am. Musica Reginae presents a classical, family-friendly piano concert. Interactive, fun, and short (about one hour), this gig helps children learn about music, instruments, artists, composing, and performing. Some might even participate. Free. The Church-in-the-Gardens, 50 Ascan Ave., Forest Hills.
Forest Hills Festival of the Arts, June 11, 11 am to 6 pm. There’s something for the whole family with more than 100 local businesses showcasing their crafts and international food. Live entertainment, inflatables and fun for the kids. The festival will run on Austin Street between 69th and 72nd roads.
Introduce your children (ages four to 15) to the fine art of printmaking at Little Pulp this weekend. Workshops are Saturday, June 10, from 2 pm to 4 pm, and Sunday, June 11, from 3 pm to 5:30 pm. Participants will use new tools and techniques to create prints. Dress appropriately, Caretakers encouraged to join in. $35 per child. Located within The Shops at Atlas Park, 80-00 Cooper Ave., Glendale.
NYC Parks will keep youngsters entertained while public schools are closed on Thursday, June 8. Enjoy free crafts, face painting, games, music, inflatables and more from noon to 3 pm at Community Day at Highland Park, Elton Street and Jamaica Avenue! Grab your skates or borrow (limited supplies) for Family Skate Day in Daniel O’ Connell Park, 196th Street and Murdouch Avenue, from noon to 4 pm.
