#InTheLoop | The Triborough Film Festival Is In Queens This Weekend!
BY QEDC It's In Queens

Northwestern Queens has gone Hollywood!
The Astoria Filmmakers Club will celebrate the Triborough Film Festival this weekend.
The inaugural exposition will screen several dozen movies in eight thematic blocks at two locations over two days. All the selected movies were set in New York or made by a New Yorker, but they vary in length and subject matter, running from four-minute shorts to 88-minute narratives.
The fun kicks off at Zukor Theater at Kaufman Astoria Studios, 34-12 36th St., on Saturday, Jan. 28. The two-hour blocks are Diversity (11 am), Romance (1 pm), Comedy (3 pm), Action (5 pm), Drama and Comedy (7 pm), and Horror (9 pm). Each session includes a post-screening Q&A with the directors at Sac’s Place, 35-11 35th Ave.
The Local, an LIC hotel with a great living room at 13-02 44th Ave., is the host on Sunday, Jan. 29. There are two sessions: International (noon) and Animation (2 pm). Stick around for a networking-heavy wrap party at the same venue at 5 pm.
Tickets cost $17 per session, while the wrap party costs $20.
“This is the chance to celebrate art in Queens with a focus on independent films,” said Ella Louis Smith, an Astoria Filmmakers Club member and volunteer festival organizer. “It brings together the creative community to support each other and develop their craft.”
