#InTheLoop | Shake, Rattle + Roll at Queens Theatre’s Free Tuesday Dance Parties
BY QEDC It's In Queens
This program is making people twist and shout.
Queens Theatre is currently facilitating free Outdoor Dance Parties/Concerts on its brand new summer stage on Tuesday nights.
Queensboro Dance Festival troupes perform and give lessons at 7:30 pm before the musical portion takes over and the public moves and grooves.
There’s a different vibe every week. On July 20, Demi Remick & Dancers, Chieh Hsiung, and The Kingdom Dance Company will kick things off. Then, Black Tie Brass will jam horn-driven Jazz and Funk.
Sheep Meadow Dance Theater, chrisbelldances, and Gotham Dance Theater will do their things on July 27. Then, Grammy-winning saxophonist Michael Thomas and his Quintet will keep the joint jumping.
On Aug. 3, the lineup will feature Flamenco Latino, Cole Collective, and Manhatitlan Mexican Folkloric Dance Group. Then, Os Clavelitos, an eclectic, six-piece band with members from Brazil, Japan, and the United States, will play Samba rhythms and sing in English and Portuguese.
Tickets are free, but reservations are required.
Located by Queens Theatre’s main facility in Flushing Meadows Corona Park, the new summer stage is in the grass block near the skate park.
