#InTheLoop | Register Now for Co-ed Youth Basketball Program Starting in March
BY QEDC It's In Queens
Registration is open for a co-ed sports program for youngsters in Middle Village.
Hot Shots Basketball offers outdoor multi-week sessions geared toward boys and girls (three to 10 years old) on the Juniper Valley Park courts near Juniper Boulevard South and 72nd Street.
Launched last summer, Hot Shots strives to teach skills while also having fun, using age-appropriate games and activities instead of fierce competition. The hoops are shorter than standard, and the balls are smaller than standard, too.
The next sessions begin on March 20, 21, and 22. Children are organized via age groups for weekly 45-minute classes, which meet weekly into early May.
“We believe that kids have lots of energy and should be able to release that energy in a safe, positive, and fun environment,” states Coach Frank Sardinas (below), a former PS/IS 87 physical education teacher who founded Hot Shots. “Basketball is the ideal sport for this.”
He added: “We want each child to realize how special and amazing they are both on and off the basketball court! We strive to instill confidence and a positive mindset in each and every one of our players.”
