#InTheLoop | Rain Dances and Delights in New Interactive Art Exhibition
BY QEDC It's In Queens
Rain sustains life, but it also invites individuals to pause, observe, and cherish the moment. In other words, it’s a great base for creating multi-media art.
The Garage Art Center hosts an opening reception for Rain of Joy in Bayside on Saturday, June 10, at 4 pm.
Han Lee designed the interactive, projection-mapped experience, which will be on display until June 22. Digitally implemented, rain-themed installations create an environment that responds to audience movement, filling the space with rain that dances and delights in sync with the patrons’ presence.
As part of the fun on opening night, Lee will play music that intertwines seamlessly with the exhibition’s centerpiece, harmonizing background graphic movements, sound, and visual elements. To begin at 4:30 pm, the 15-minute, multi-sensory show promises to transcend time, space, and art, elevating the immersive nature of the event to new heights.
All art center programs are free and open to the public, but registration is required. (Donations are accepted, too!)
Born in Korea, but currently based in New Jersey, the Webby Award-winning Lee has worked as creative director and senior designer for such companies as CJ, Samsung, Fi New York, Sigient, and allm Interactive. He’s collaborated with LG, Hyundai, Scholastic, Time Warner Cable, Nintendo America, Google, and Tencent.
“Between Design, Technology and Man, there is a delightful sea where I dive deep into,” Lee states on his website.
The Garage Art Center consists of a gallery and an outdoor seating area at 26-01 Corporal Kennedy St., about two blocks east of the Clearview Expressway. Stephanie S. Lee, who teaches Korean folk art at Flushing Town Hall and works at Queens College’s Godwin-Ternbach Museum, converted a residential area garage into the mini-museum. There’s parking on the street.
