#InTheLoop | Queens Symphony presents annual summer concert at St. John’s
BY QEDC It's In Queens
It’s one of those nights that you remember fondly for the rest of the year.
The Queens Symphony Orchestra will offer “An Enchanted Summer’s Evening” at St. John’s University’s Great Lawn on Tuesday, July 24, at 7 pm.
Christopher Macchio, a tenor with a smooth, powerful voice trained at the Manhattan School of Music, will sing arias and other romantic songs, while the borough’s oldest ensemble will present lush symphonies under the direction of Martin Majkut, a former Fullbright scholar who was named an Emerging Artist by the League of American Orchestras in 2016.
Admission is free, and in case of rain, the fun will move to the Little Theater on campus.
This is actually the 20th annual summer concert at St. John’s, which is located at 80-00 Utopia Parkway in Jamaica. The event is co-presented with Borough President Melinda Katz’s Office as part of the Katz Concert Series, which lasts until Aug. 16. The other upcoming shows in the series follow.
