#InTheLoop | New Restaurants Improve Bayside’s Already Hot Dining Scene
BY QEDC It's In Queens
The Bayside foodie scene has been diverse and mouth-watering for decades. And it’s getting even better these days, thanks to some new restaurants.
Example number one is Avo Taco, which opened at 212-97 26th Ave. last week. High-quality Mexican fusion cuisine (i.e. The John Wayne Quesadilla, which includes barbecue sauce, carnitas, cilantro, crispy onions, and Monterrey Jack cheese) mixes with fresh-squeezed juices and top-shelf alcoholic beverages at this spot.
Another recent addition is Gordon’s, which opened at 40-17 Bell Blvd. last month. Burgers (i.e. beef, fish, veggie) on brioche buns, sandwiches, and shakes are popular menu items at this venue which has indoor and outdoor dining options.
Niyom opened at about the same time as Gordon’s. Located at 33-47 Francis Lewis Blvd., this Thai restaurant serves Pad See-Ew, Drunken Noodles, Chinese Broccoli with Crispy Pork Over Rice, and other authentic dishes at reasonable prices. (The curries and the chive pancakes get rave reviews.)
Those with a love of the sea can head to The Monster Crab at 211-35 26th Ave. This spacious Cajun boil spot offers an array of special deals on crab legs, crawfish, lobster, mussels, and shrimp that are enhanced by sauces with various heat levels.
Finally, Pardon My Sub has been operating at 39-33 Bell Blvd. for a few months. At this deli with serious Korean influences, patrons can order everything from a BEC (bacon, egg, cheese) to sandwiches with New York names, such as “The Yankees (avocado, jalapeño peppers, mozzarella, onion, pesto chicken, pesto sauce, and tomato on toasted semolina)” to bánh mì. The Swiss and Beef Sausage with Hot Sauce, The Brunch (grilled pastrami, homemade cole slaw, melted Swiss cheese, mustard, sauteéd onions, and sunnyside up egg), and The Hangover (avocado, bacon, eggs, hash browns, sauteéd onions) also impress.
