#InTheLoop | City Gate Presents ‘Five Women Wearing the Same Dress’ in Maspeth
BY QEDC It's In Queens

Modern day Maspeth is about to get a taste of Tennessee in the early 1990s.
City Gate Productions presents Alan Ball’s Five Women Wearing the Same Dress at the Moose Lodge Theatre six times from Friday, March 24, to Sunday, April 2.
The comedic play centers on a high-scale wedding reception on the first floor of a Knoxville estate. Five bridesmaids hide in an upstairs bedroom, each with a reason to avoid the festivities below. As the afternoon advances, these different-but-identically-dressed women discover a common bond. Through their stories, they celebrate women’s truth, humanity, and heart.
Tickets are $25, but seniors and students can attend for $20. Shows are at 8 pm on Fridays and Saturdays and 3 pm on Sundays.
Founded by married couple Virginia and Thom Harmon in December 2021 and based in Forest Hills, City Gate Productions creates community theatre all around Queens. Past productions include The Christians, Lobby Hero, and Rabbit Hole.
Virginia Harmon plays Trisha in Five Women Wearing the Same Dress, while hubby Thom Harmon co-produces with Tim Reifschneider. The rest of the cast consists of Liv Campbell as Meredith, Margaret Leisenheimer as Frances, Regina Fischedick as Georgeanne, Ashley Gage as Mindy, and Jordan Lear as Tripp. Amanda Montoni directs, while Gabby Fidis is the Assistant Director. Jim Haines is the Stage Manager.
The playwright, Alan Ball, won an Oscar and a Golden Globe with the 1999 film American Beauty. The Georgia native also won Emmys for HBO’s Six Feet Under and True Blood.
Located at 72-15 Grand Ave., the Moose Lodge has a large event space that City Gate converted into a theater. There’s on-street parking nearby, especially on Grand Avenue.
The Loyal Order of Moose is a service and fraternity organization that Dr. John Henry Wilson established in Louisville, Kentucky in 1888. Lodges are all over the United States as well as Bermuda, Canada, and England. The one in Maspeth is technically Ridgewood Lodge #1642 of the Loyal Order of the Moose and Women of the Moose Chapter #133.
