#InTheLoop | Queens College Hosts the Flavored Food & Wine Festival on Sept. 21

Consider it a graduate-level course on living well.

The Flavored Food & Wine Festival is at Queens College on Saturday, Sept. 21, from noon to 5 pm.

More than 20 restaurants, including Melba’s and Brooklyn Chophouse, will provide samples during this inaugural event. Live entertainment, curated workshops, and culinary demonstrations by celebrity chefs (i.e. Lifestyle expert Jazz Smollett) are also part of the fun.

Tickets must be purchased in advance. Prices run from $150 to $225 with a 10-for-$1,350 offer. (Nobody under the age of 21 can attend or purchase tickets.)

The Flavored Food & Wine Festival is hosted by the Pearls & Ivy Foundation of Queens, and all the proceeds will support local community initiatives and scholarships. The nonprofit’s signature program is The Pearl Scholars Leadership Academy, which provides STEM training, financial literacy, leadership development, cultural enrichment workshops, and other services.

Queens College’s entrance is at 65-30 Kissena Blvd. in Flushing. The event will take place outdoors in The Quad with many tents. (Rain or shine.) Parking is available on a limited basis.

Local participants include Bake Me Healthy, Doosra, Gino’s of Kissena, Jack’s Pepper Heist, Madame Susan, Menya Jiro, Mum’s Kitchen NYC, Parlo Kitchen, Queenz Bakery Cafe, Quiaufa’s Kitchen, Sassy Sweet Vegan Treats, Spread-MMMS, Sydney’s Sweets, Taste Buds Required, Taste of Surabaya, The Nourish Spot, and The Soup Lady.
