Residents gave their Halloween pumpkins, Chistmas trees, yard waste, and food scraps. Now, they’re returning, but in a different form.
The NYC Department of Sanitation hosts a few Compost Givebacks over the next week.
The first one is at Queens County Farm Museum on Saturday, Aug. 10, from 10 am to 2 pm. (Go to the parking lot at 73-50 Little Neck Pkwy.)
Participants can take home up two 40-pound bags of high-quality Big Apple Compost.
It’s free, but registration is required. (Click here!)
If Aug. 10 isn’t possible, here are two other chances.
Thursday, Aug. 15, Forest Park at Seuffert Bandshell parking lot along Forest Park Drive
Thursday, Aug. 29, Astoria Park at parking lot at 19-19th St.
