#NewsFlash | Fall forward at Queens Botanical Garden’s Harvest Fest and Pumpkin Patch
BY QEDC It's In Queens
Now this is a bumper crop!
The seventh annual Harvest Fest and Pumpkin Patch will fill Queens Botanical Garden with everything from bouncy houses to composting demonstrations to locally crafted beer on Sunday, Oct. 15, from 11 a.m. until 5 p.m.
The focus is on family fun, but there’s truly something for every age and taste. For example, attendees can get a sound fix during the Americana concert at the Field Stage, located almost exactly in the middle of the Flushing venue. Expect a rural, country flair as the Lonesome Moonlight String Band, Brooklyn Bluegrass Collective, and Banjo Nickaru and Western Scooches are the scheduled groups.
Meanwhile, youth will be served over at the Sprout Stage at QBG’s southern border, where WonderSpark Puppets and Gary the Great Magic Show will rotate performances, starting at 11:30 a.m.
The Bee Tent, unsurprisingly located by the Bee Garden, will host educational activities, including henna demonstrations, bee-keeping workshops, pumpkin carvings, and tea blending/extracting classes. These 30-minutes sessions will rotate three times throughout the event, starting at 11 a.m.
Those with happy feet and empty stomachs will be able to go on a foraging tour at 12:30 p.m., 2:30 p.m., and 4 p.m. There will also be farm tours at 1 p.m. and 3 p.m. and a garden tour with QBG Executive Director Susan Lacerte at 2 p.m.
A petting zoo, beer tent, cider press, crafts zone, community art space, and kiddie activity tables will happen at other parts of the garden, and the pumpkin patch will be open for perusing and purchasing gourds at the side closest to College Point Boulevard.
Admission is $12 for adults, but $10 for children (ages four to 18). Those under age three are free. Some activities require additional payments.
