In a clear sign of the times, cherry blossoms and Monarch butterflies factor into this week’s fun. A free concert by a just-formed opera company is also a big draw. Other options include live jazz, puppetry with spaghetti, and wearable art.

April 13, Wearable Art Workshop, 11 am. Jewelry artist Phyllis Ger teaches how to make bolos, wristbands, necklaces, and adornments for a spring bonnet with beads, trinkets, flowers, and decorative materials. $5/$8 per family. Voelker Orth Museum, 149-19 38th Ave., Flushing.
April 14, Great Small Works Spaghetti Dinner, 7:30 pm. For the first time in Queens, Great Small Works presents an evening of adult puppetry as part of its long-running Spaghetti Dinner series. April 15, Queens Opera, 7:30 pm. The newly formed Queens Opera Theatre company offers its first concert ever. This 90-minute showcase includes music from La Boheme and Rigoletto. Free. Flushing Town Hall, 137-35 Northern Blvd.
April 15, Sakura Matsuri Cherry Blossom Festival, 11 am. This annual festival celebrates the pinks, purples, and delicate whites of cherry blossom season with live drumming, a traditional Japanese chorus, and a tea ceremony. Free. NYS Pavilion and Astral Fountain, Flushing Meadows Corona Park.
April 15, Talk of the Town, 1 pm. A screening of the 1942 Cary Grant classic about a man accused of burning down a mill and causing a foreman’s death. During trial, he escapes and hides in a house owned by a former schoolmate even though a law professor is renting it. The escapee and the professor then vie for the homeowner’s love. Free. April 15, Screening and Live Event: The Cinema Travelers, 6 pm. Directors Shirley Abraham and Amit Madheshiya show and discuss this film on showmen who have brought cinema to remote Indian villages via rickety, multi-purpose trucks for about 75 years. The tradition is threatened as projectors crumble, reels become scarce, and digital technology spreads. A benevolent showman, shrewd exhibitor, and maverick projector strive to keep the world’s last traveling cinemas alive. $15. April 17, NYsferatu: Classic Cinema and Writing for Film Workshop, 2:30 pm. Instructor and artist Andrea Mastrovito introduces film studies and writing through the 1922 classic film Nosferatu, which is based on Bram Stoker’s novel Dracula. Free. April 18, Monarch Butterfly Workshop, 9 am to 2 pm. Training and equipment to create Monarch butterfly habitats to raise butterflies and conduct citizen science. Queens Botanical Garden, 43-50 Main St., Flushing.
April 19, Avian and Human Lungs: A Comparison, 8 pm. The Queens County Bird Club hosts a presentation by pulmonary specialist Edward Eden, who explains mammalian and avian lungs and their relationships to ventilation, gas exchange, and oxygen supply. April 19, Spring Film Series: Notorious (1945), 2 pm. An eight-week series with dramatic and comedic films exploring issues from national security to gender insecurity. Each movie has a post-screening discussion.
