International Dancehall, Soca, and Gospel stars are coming to Queens.
Jamaica native Sean Paul, whose Dancehall hits include “Get Busy” and “Temperature,” takes the stage in Roy Wilkins Park on Saturday, Aug. 24, as part of the Rise Up NYC series. Doors open at 5 pm. Show starts at 6 pm.
The next day, Trinidad-born Machel Montano, who’s known as the King of Soca with such chart-toppers as “Like Ah Boss” and “Fast Wine,” performs at the same venue. Doors open at 4 pm. Show starts at 5 pm.
Don’t go anywhere because Roy Wilkins Park hosts a night of praise-and-worship music with Grammy winner Israel Houghton, Tina Campbell, Maurette Brown Clark, JJ Hairston, Lucinda Moore, Semaje, Jovanta Patton, and CCC Worship on Aug. 26. Doors open at 5:30 pm. Recital starts at 6:30 pm.
All concerts are free.
Located in St. Albans, Roy Wilkins Park borders Merrick Boulevard, 115th Avenue, 116th Avenue, and Baisley Boulevard.
The Queens show are the final ones in the five-gig Rise Up NYC series, which began with Fat Joe in Orchard Beach in the Bronx on Aug. 20. Victor Manuelle also performed in the Bronx on Aug. 21.
