#PickoftheWeek | Indoor Skydiving Soars in Queens

Soar through the air while staying warm and dry.

iFLY Indoor Skydiving, a Texas-based “bodyflying” company, has just opened a branch at 10-20 Borden Ave. in Long Island City.

There’s no jumping or falling, participants simply float in a wind tunnel with clean air that recirculates from outside. And with a wall-to-wall air column and certified instructors, bodyflying is safe, although it might be scary at first.

Prices vary, but the typical package starts at $84.99 and includes two flights for one person. The experience lasts about 90 minutes.

First-time flyers are required to take a training class and they must be over three years of age. Those under 18 must have a waiver signed by a parent or guardian. People who weigh more than 300 pounds will not be allowed to fly.

iFLY and its related entities have flown more than 20 million people in more than 18 countries and at sea since launching in 1998. The company has commissioned 93 tunnels globally with several more in the works.

The LIC venue is on Borden Avenue near the Long Island Rail Road yard and the Long Island Expressway entrance. It’s about three blocks from the Vernon Blvd-Jackson Av station on the 7 line. Here’s the schedule: Monday, 10 am to 9 pm; Tuesday, 11 am to 8:30 pm; Wednesday, 11 am to 8:30 pm; Thursday, 11 am to 8:30 pm; Friday, 11 am to 9 pm; Saturday, 8:30 am to 10:30 pm; and 9 am to 9 pm.
