It’s time to face the music.
Queens Theatre hosts a Classical Kids Fair on Sunday, Oct. 8, at 1 pm.
WQXR — also known as 105.9 FM or NYC’s only all-classical music station — presents three hours of performances, dance and songwriting workshops, arts, crafts, and an instrument petting zoo (okay not really petting).
Attendees will meet and learn from musicians from The Knights, Queens College’s Copland School of Music and Kupferberg Center for the Arts, Louis Armstrong House Museum, Spanish-English music duo Musiquita, and teaching artists from Queens Theatre.
The Classical Kids Fair is recommended for ages five to 10, and admission is free. Though not required, reservations are encouraged and early registrants will be entered into a drawing to win four tickets to an upcoming family series show at Queens Theatre.
The Classical Kids Fair is part of an ongoing series that WQXR and partnering organizations are presenting to bring classical music to youngsters throughout the five boroughs.
WQXR is a branch of the nonprofit organization New York Public Radio, which is best known for operating the news station WNYC, which appears on AM and FM in affiliation with National Public Radio. It broadcasts from the Empire State Building.
Queens Theatre is located at 14 United Nations Ave. S. inside Flushing Meadows Corona Park. A large parking lot is nearby.
