Hexahedrons of art have landed on the Queens riverfront.
You Are Here, which features four cubes covered with art by six international photographers, was unveiled in Hunter’s Point South Park last week.
Varying in size, the cubes are sprinkled through the park, engaging viewers as they use the public space. The locations follow.
Elise Kirk’s New Town is at the northern entrance near 50th Avenue and Center Street.
Delaney Allen’s Soft Shoulder and One More River to Cross by Daesha Devón Harris are close to 51st Avenue and Center Street, next to the railroad track planting beds.
Barrett Doherty’s Hunter’s Point South Park studies are on the boardwalk near the NYC Ferry stop, next to the Ottomanelli’s by the Water concession.
Denisse Ariana Pérez’s Agua collection and Jennifer Latour’s Bound Species are on the Overlook above the salt marsh. Get there via 55th Avenue and Center Street.
To be on display for three months, You Are Here examines humankind’s relationship to nature. The park provides a perfect backdrop.
You Are Here is presented via a partnership between Hunters Point Parks Conservancy and Photoville with support from the Klipper Family Foundation and NYC Parks.
“The Conservancy has been working for years to bring more art to the park, and we are pleased Photoville could help us highlight these works for park visitors,” stated HPPC Vice President Leonard Klipper. “We look forward to bringing in more works in the future.”
