#Newsflash | Nai-Ni Dance Offers Year of the Dragon Programs in Queens

Symbolizing strength, courage, and good fortune, the Year of the Dragon is an auspicious, significant year in the Chinese zodiac. Celebrate it with dragons (naturally), dancing lions, elegant peacocks, stunning acrobats, and twirling ribbons.

The Nai-Ni Chen Dance Company offers two shows at Queens College’s Goldstein Theatre in Flushing next weekend.

On Jan. 27 and Jan. 28 at 3 pm, the performances are family-friendly. Nai-Ni performers in vibrant costumes weave graceful movements on stage to bring ancient traditions to life. Attendees can expect the Coinstick Dance, Spear Dance, Way of Fire, and Whirlwind.

Ticket prices run from $20 to $30.

In 1988, Taiwan native Nai-Ni Chen founded her eponymous, New Jersey-based troupe to fuse American modern dance with the grace and discipline of Asian art. Since then, it has received more than 20 awards from such prestigious entities as the National Endowment for the Arts and the New Jersey State Council on the Arts.

Goldstein Theatre is on Queens College’s campus with an entrance at 153-49 Reeves Ave.
