Some events deserve a sequel.
The second annual Triborough Film Festival will take place at various Northwestern Queens venues over the next three Saturdays.
Organized by the Astoria Filmmakers Club, the first step is a movie marathon at Zukor Theatre, 35-01 35th Ave. (side entrance), on Jan. 27 from 11 am to 11 pm. The diverse, 30-piece lineup spans genres (drama, documentary, comedy) and lengths, and each session includes a Q&A.
Tickets are $18, and the films are arranged in six thematic blocks staring at 11 am, 12:30 pm, 2 pm, 4 pm, 6 pm, and 8 pm.
Step two is the Astor Award Nominees party at Culture Lab LIC, 5-25 46th Ave., on Feb. 3 from 2 pm to 10 pm. This is the chance to network and have fun with industry leaders and emerging talent. Admission is free, and beer and popcorn will be available.
The festival’s final bash is the Astor Awards VIP Ceremony at the Chian Federation Building, 44-01 Broadway, on Feb. 10, from 5 pm to 10 pm. Local vendors will sell their products while attendees mingle, shop, and consume drinks from a bar, mocktails, and food from local restaurants, including fresh organic wraps from Burger Village Astoria. Tickets cost $40.
The Astoria Filmmakers Club is a free, volunteer-based program whose motto is “Community Creativity & Joy.” Activities strive to help actors, filmmakers, producer, and writers.
