#InTheLoop | The Great Indoors! Enjoy ‘Body-Flying’ at New Long Island City Facility

Bungee-jumping, kite-surfing, and zip-lining are soooooo 20th century. Bodyflight is the new passion – and it includes a 25 percent discount in LIC these days.

iFLY Indoor Skydiving is now operating at 10-20 Borden Ave. near the Long Island Rail Road yard and the Long Island Expressway entrance.

There’s no jumping or falling in this extreme-ish sport. Participants experience the feeling of free fall in a safe environment provided by a wall-to-wall cushion of air made possible by iFLY’s state-of-the-art engineering. The flight chamber works using giant fans to push air through its chilled turning vanes, up through a diffuser in a closed loop system of recirculating air.

The experience lasts about 90 minutes, and due to the Wicked Good Deal, a typical, two-flight package that’s normally $104 is only $78 until Jan. 20. (Promotion is only valid through online purchase. Similar 25 percent discounts apply to larger packages during this promotion as well.)

Bodyflight practitioners are required to sign a waiver or provide one from a parent or guardian. First-timers must take a training class. Those who weigh more than 300 pounds will not be allowed to fly, nor will children under age three.

iFLY has more than 40 branches around the United States and Canada (corporate and franchise). The Texas-based company and its related entities have flown more than 20 million people in more than 18 countries and at sea since launching in 1998.

The LIC venue is about three blocks from the Vernon Blvd-Jackson Av station on the 7 line. The contact information is [email protected] and 212.977.4359.
