Build it, and they will fling.
New York City’s first-ever disc golf course opened in Highland Park earlier this summer.
Featuring 10 holes with tee pads and baskets with chain netting to catch the flying objects, the route winds through grassy knolls, wooded areas, bodies of water, and urban structures. It resulted from a multi-year effort including the New York City Disc Golf Association, the Paul McBeth Foundation, NYC Parks, and various community groups.

Also known as “frisbee golf,” this sport involves throwing discs from the same spot into the same basket with the fewest throws possible. As of 2023, the Professional Disc Golf Association had a bit more than 100,000 active members in more than 40 countries.
Highland Park straddles Brooklyn and Queens with Glendale and Ridgewood to the north and Cypress Hills to the south. It encompasses the Ridgewood Reservoir. As the disc golf course is within an NYC public space, pedestrians have right of way, and players must be courteous.
