Urinetown: The Musical is about to hit the stage in two Queens venues.
Coincidence or a scatalogical plot?
Rockaway Theatre Company presents this satire of the legal system, capitalism, bureaucracy, politics, and even other musicals 11 times from April 5 to April 21.
Ticket prices run from $20 to $25 and the schedule follows: April 5, 6, 12, 13, 18, 19, and 20 at 8 pm; and April 7, 13, 14, and 21 at 2 pm.
The shows will go on at Building T-4 in Fort Tilden near Breezy Point. The renovated theater was once a cinema for United States Army personnel.
Meanwhile in Woodside, The Secret Theatre will present that same comedy 10 times at 38-02 61st St. from April 11 to April 21.
Ticket prices run from $15 to $25, and the shows are on April 11, 12, 13, 18, 19, and 20 at 7 pm and April 13, 14, 20, and 21 at 2:30 pm.
Created by Mark Hollmann and Greg Kotis, Urinetown: The Musical is set during a severe drought in the not-so-distant future. The government has banned private toilets and the only public ones are owned and operated by the despotic Urine Good Company. Of course, a hero rises up to fight this injustice…and hilarity ensues.
Since premiering in 2001, the play has won three Tony Awards, two Obie Awards, and three Outer Critics Circle Awards.
