Flushing Town Hall is putting Queens on the map.
Thanks to funding from the New York State Council on the Arts, the venerable Northern Boulevard nonprofit is spearheading an initiative to document the borough’s artistic landscape to highlight what people are doing and the challenges they’re facing. It’s called “The Queens Cultural Mapping Project.”
Since last May, FTH Arts Services Team Community Coordinators have conducted one-on-one interviews with more than 75 artists and organizations. That’s a good number, but organizers want to talk to more creative types about their opinions, challenges, and needs while also connecting them to a broad network of services, resources, venues, and opportunities.

In June 2025, FTH will submit to NYSCA a report that will also be available to the public. FTH will also publish a digital map that will represent arts-and-culture groups across Queens.
In a similar vein, FTH will host an Arts Community Town Hall on Wednesday, Jan. 29, at 6 pm.
Local artists, cultural leaders, and enthusiasts are invited to share their ideas, discuss their projects, and brainstorm via open conversations and collaborative activities. FTH staff will also share information on art services and resources.
It’s free. Click here to RSVP. FTH is located at 137-35 Northern Blvd.
