#PickoftheWeek | Comic Book Exposition Is at St. John’s University this Weekend

Holy Costume Party, Batman, how did so many superheroes find their way to this event?

The Elite_Comics11 Expo is at St. John’s University in Jamaica Estates this weekend.

Like the name suggests, comics are the main focus at this two-day event, but participants will also be able to peruse cards, video games, books, and home video collectibles at fair prices due to data-driven pricing. Great food, too.

Tickets cost $14.79 for each day ($20 at the door) and the schedule runs from 10 am to 6 pm on March 8 and March 9.

About three-dozen vendors from all over the country will attend this first-ever event. Plus, Certified Guaranty Company, which grades comic books, will be on site to authenticate purchases.

Brooklyn-born actor Vincent D’Onofrio (Daredevil, Full Metal Jacket, Men in Black) will make an appearance on March 9. Steve Lavigne, the artist behind Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, will be there both days as will Star Wars and Disney artist Christian Waggoner.

As many as three dozen vendors are expected, such as Astoria-based Silver Age and Royal Collectibles in Forest Hills. Others include Buzzard Brothers, Care Gems, Collector Supreme, Genesis, J&S Collectibles, Jaws, King Solomon, Lightning Collectibles, Nickel N Dime, Next Generation, Paradise, Pop Auctions, Streyflexin, Superworld, Tasteecat, and Threesixty.

The Elite_Comics11 Expo is also the first comic show to be sensory inclusive as certified by Kulture City, a nonprofit that serves people with invisible disabilities, such as autism and ADHD.

The fun will take place at Taffner Field House. Enter at 171-52 Union Tpke. and park in the campus garage. Then, walk towards the tennis courts and follow arrows to Taffner.
