This new group is simply soup-er. It’s always a great thyme.
The Queens Cookbook Club meeting (potluck, really) is in Forest Hills on Saturday, March 8, at 2 pm.
Admission is $5, and you’re invited.
The main ingredient is Natasha Pickowicz’s More Than Cake: 100 Baking Recipes Built for Pleasure and Community. Participants will choose recipes from this book and create their own edible masterpieces to share.
It’ll take place at the Yant Art Space at 72-50 Austin St. Located on the second floor, this spot features a cafe where club members can buy beverages. (A tattoo parlor is right there, too, so this might be the time to get some work done.)
Sounds delicious, but what’s the Queens Cookbook Club?
Spearheaded by Carla Rodriguez from Butterboy Baking, the group launched last summer. They meet periodically at different venues to network, share recipes, and enjoy life. Each meeting has a theme book.
The last one was in Rego Park in December and the guide was The World Eats Here: Amazing Food and the Inspiring People Who Make It at New York’s Queens Night Market by John Wang and Storm Garner.
The get-togethers last about two hours, and members use a spreadsheet to inform others on what they plan to bring. The $5 fee goes to the host venue. Rodriguez suggests that attendees bring serving utensils for their dishes and containers to take home any leftovers.
