The Space Gal is about to land in Queens!
Netflix and FOX host Emily Calandrelli launches her new book, Stay Curious and Keep Exploring: Next Level: 50 Bigger, Bolder Science Experiments to Do with the Whole Family, during a special appearance at the New York Hall of Science on Wednesday, March 6, at 3 pm.
A follow-up to the national bestseller Stay Curious and Keep Exploring, the new book provides information for conducting scientific experiments. Readers will contemplate color-changing slimes to discover if dogs see the world in black and white; a glow-in-the-dark jellyfish to explore bioluminescence; an unpoppable bubble to learn why toothpaste never dries out; and egg geodes to play with supersaturated liquids and crystallization.
General admission to the museum is $22 for adults and $19 for children, students, and seniors, but a $45 package gives purchasers a signed copy of the book and the chance to meet Calandrelli, who’s also known as “The Space Gal.”
Calandrelli has a bachelor of science degree in Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering from West Virginia University and a Masters in Aeronautics and Astronautics + Technology and Policy from Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
Nowadays, she hosts Netflix’s Emily’s Wonder Lab and works as a correspondent on the same company’s Bill Nye Saves the World. She’s also the executive producer and host of FOX’s Xploration Outer Space.
Calandrelli has spoken at venues like Google, Pixar, MIT, Texas Instruments, CERN, and dozens of K-12 schools and universities around the country. (Click here for her TEDx talks.) Her most common topics are science communication, space exploration, and women in STEM.
The New York Hall of Science is located at 47-01 111th St. on the Corona side of Flushing Meadows Corona Park. A large parking lot lies just to the north.
