Would you like to donate gently worn or new sneakers to students-in-need?
The Shops at Skyview hosts Sole-ful Spring on Saturday, March 23, from 2 pm to 5 pm.
Organized in partnership with the Queens Borough President’s Office, this three-hour event includes a live DJ, art performances, raffles, and giveaways. Those who donate sneakers receive coupons from participating tenants (i.e. $30 discounts at Converse, 15 percent off at Nike) along with complimentary drinks.
Mixed-media artist Jason H. Lee will be on hand, too. He plans to offer 10 limited-edition t-shirts designed by him to the first 10 donors. The South Korea native is known for portraits of prominent figures from the sports and fashion industries intertwined with delicate, fluttering butterflies. He uses uncharacteristic materials such as fire, matches, recycled sneakers, and water.
Sole-ful Spring is scheduled for Level 4 at Skyview whose entrance is 40-24 College Point Blvd. The shopping center has a mix of stores that sell everything from apparel to electronics to home furnishings to cosmetics and a large parking garage.
