Here’s a great way to get in the holiday spirit.
Bria Skonberg brings her Jingle Bell Swing to the Kupferberg Center for the Arts on Saturday, Dec. 7, at 8 pm.
The multiple award-winning trumpeter adds her brass-and-sass – aka smoky vocals and fiery trumpet – to such classics as “Let It Snow,” “What Child Is This,” “Carol of The Bells,” and Duke Ellington’s “Dance of the Sugar Rum Cherry.”
Ticket prices run from $35 to $45.
Skonberg, a New Yorker who grew up in British Columbia, has a degree in Jazz Trumpet from Capilano University in Vancouver. In addition to performing at hundreds of festivals around the world, she won the 2015 Jazz at Lincoln Center Swing! Award, the 2017 Juno Award for Jazz Vocal Album, and Canadian Broadcasting Corporation’s 2006 Jazz Award of Merit. She’ll perform with her quartet which features Chris Pattishall on piano, Barry Stephenson on bass, and Darrian Douglas on drums.
Jingle Bell Swing is scheduled for Queens College’s LeFrak Concert Hall at 153-49 Reeves Ave. in Flushing. Free parking lots are nearby.
