#Newsflash | Bi-Weekly Comedy Show Helps LIC Residents Laugh All The Way Home

This art gallery is kind of funny…
Or maybe you prefer: A priest, a cop, and a lawyer walk into an art gallery…
Then there’s always: Why did the chicken run into the art gallery?

The punch line to all these hilarious jokes is the same.
The Nice One! comedy show is at Culture Lab LIC every other Thursday!
In the art gallery, of course.

Head there on April 17 to guffaw and cackle with seven stand-up routines over about 75 minutes. (Editor’s note: If you’re busy on April 17, don’t worry. The next show is on May 1. Then, May 15. Then, May 31.)
Here’s the lineup: Daniel Geneen, who’s also an Emmy-winning food video maker; Jessica Kirson, a Comedy Cellar regular whose shtick mixes silliness, ridiculous characters, and prank calls; Sabeen Sadiq, who brings down the house with tales about such topics as her Muslim upbringing and being related to white people; Kofi Thomas, whose resume includes HBO, Showtime, and Amazon Prime; Isaac Knox, a white dude who also spits mad rhymes as a battle rapper; Liz Glazer, a tenured law professor (’nuff sed); and Danish Maqbool, who grew up in New Jersey (’nuff said again).
Tickets usually cost $10, but act now for a two-for-one deal. All shows are set for 8 pm.

Nice One! is a labor of love for Michael Lee, who books the talent, produces the show, and often serves as master of ceremonies. (Give him the microphone, and he’ll share hilarious anecdotes about dating, aging, the Asian-American experience, current events, and his never-ending list of white friends named “Michael.”)
The 42-year-old, who’s been presenting Nice One! since August 2021, likes to mix seasoned professionals with novices – especially those from Western Queens – in his shows.
“It’s a great time,” Lee says. “We’re doing standup in an art gallery. It’s unique.”

Editor’s note: Culture Lab’s entrance is at 5-25 46th Ave. The 12,000-square-foot facility features a 90-seat theater, classrooms, an outdoor event space, and two fine art galleries, which happen to be fantastic places for humor.
