#PickoftheWeek | A Grammy-Winning Duo Brings Jazz + Latin Rhythms to Queens

A Grammy-winning duo is coming to Queens.

Miguel Zenón and Luis Perdomo perform at LeFrak Concert Hall in Flushing on Saturday, April 26, at 8 pm.

They will explore the tapestry of Latin American music, blending intricate rhythms and melodies with modern Jazz improvisation.

Ticket prices run from $30 (balcony) to $40 (orchestra).

Zenón and Perdomo’s El Arte Del Bolero Vol. 2 won the 2024 Grammy for Best Latin Jazz Album in 2024.

Zenón is a saxophonist and composer who grew up in San Juan, Puerto Rico. He received a Guggenheim Fellowship in 2008. Later that year, he was one of 25 individuals chosen for a MacArthur Fellowship, also known as the “Genius Grant.” Then in 2024, he earned a Doris Duke Artist Award from the Doris Duke Foundation.

Perdomo started playing piano on TV and radio stations in his native Venezuela at age 12. In the United States, he was a member of Ravi Coltrane’s Quartet for 10 years and he recorded on three Grammy-nominated CDs. Most importantly, he has a 2000 Masters Degree from Queens College, where he studied with pianist extraordinaire Sir Roland Hanna.

So this is a homecoming!

LeFrak Concert Hall is on Queens College’s campus near the intersection of Horace Harding Expressway and Kissena Boulevard. Several free parking lots are in the immediate vicinity.
