Founded by WCKR DJ and VP Records employee Carter Van Pelt in Coney Island in 2010, Reggae on the Boardwalk celebrates Jamaican culture and promotes local talent via memorable afternoons of music and dancing. After years of shows in Brooklyn and the Bronx, Reggae on the Boardwalk came to Queens for the first time in 2021.
The Rockaway Beach Amphitheater is on Shore Front Parkway at Beach 94th Street. Completed in late 2022, the performance space features a PVC tensile membrane structure in a clam shell design by Birdair. An outdoor parking lot is nearby.
Queens Live! Reggae on the Boardwalk is produced via a partnership with NYC Parks, the Kupferberg Center for the Arts at Queens College, and Borough President Donovan Richards Jr.
