Bring your energy and good spirits. You’ll receive balloons, cowbells, pompoms, rattles, and whistles.
Various borough nonprofits have joined forces to organize a Queens Cheering Station to support TCS NYC Marathon participants as they cruise down 44th Drive near 21st Street in Long Island City on Sunday, Nov. 3, starting at about 10 am and running until the late afternoon.
The spot is close to the 26.2-mile race’s halfway point. It’s also near the entry point to Queens and where many runners start to feel tired after the early adrenaline rushes.
In other words, it’s the perfect place for a shot of encouragement.
It’s free, of course, and volunteers will cheer alongside the organizers – Queens Centers for Progress, Queens Economic Development Corporation, and Queens Tourism Council – as well as student volunteers from Bayside High School’s Key Club and John Bowne High School’s Arista Honor Society.
Queens Borough President Donovan Richards Jr., Assemblywoman Alicia L. Hyndman, and City Council Member James F. Gennaro will also be there.
All are welcome. RSVP via email to [email protected] or fill out this form.
