#Newsflash | Night at the Museum Party at MoMA PS1 on Feb. 23

Let’s call it a day.

Night at the Museum is at MoMA PS1 on Friday, Feb. 23, starting at 8 pm.

Attendees to this closing party for Rirkrit Tiravanija’s A LOT OF PEOPLE exhibition get after-hours access to interactive works, special performances, dances, and DJ sets by Spencer Sweeney, while all exhibitions are open.

General admission is $20 in advance, but $25 at the door. Cash bar.

On display since last Oct. 14, A LOT OF PEOPLE is Tiravanija’s biggest exhibition ever. It features more than 100 pieces — ephemera, film, paper, participatory pieces, photographs, sculptures — from this social engagement artist who specializes in creating installations where viewers are encouraged to hang out, share meals, play music, socialize, and read.

Born in Buenos Aires in 1961, Tiravanija grew up in Canada, Ethiopia, and Thailand. The diplomat’s son studied at the Ontario College of Art in Toronto, Banff Center School of Fine Arts, School of the Art Institute of Chicago, and Whitney Independent Studies Program in New York. The polyglot currently lives in Berlin, Chiang Mai (Thailand), and New York, where he teaches at Columbia University.

Located at 22-25 Jackson Ave., MoMA PS1 is accessible via the 7, E, G, and M lines to the Court Sq.-23rd St. and 21st St.-Van Alst subway stations. (Yes, it’s affiliated with Manhattan’s Museum of Modern Art.)
