This is a serious flex.
The National Physique Committee’s East Coast Classic is in Flushing on Saturday, Aug. 10, at noon.
Sponsored by the Syosset-based Bev Francis Powerhouse Gym (aka The East Coast Mecca of Bodybuilding), this qualifying contest is open to amateurs of all experience levels. The age divisions run from 60 & Over down to Teens with such categories as Wellness, Bikini, Classic Physique, and Fitness.
The first spectator round starts at noon and general admission is $30. The finals, which are set for 5 pm, cost $40. (Check-in opens at 9 am for the competitors.)
The action will take place at Queens College’s Goldstein Theatre at 153-49 Reeves Ave. The closest lots are currently closed for construction, but Lot 5 will be available for parking on Aug. 10. (There’s also street parking.)
Established in 1982, the National Physique Committee is an amateur organization where bodybuilders have fun or launch professional careers. Alums include 24 Olympia and 38 Arnold Classic winners.
