Don’t Let the Pigeon Drive the Bus! The Musical! shows twice – 1 pm and 4 pm – at Queens Theatre on Sunday, Dec. 8. (The second show will have American Sign Language Interpretation.)
TheaterWorksUSA presents this adaptation of a Mo Willems children’s book about a bus driver who has a crisis that threatens to make her passengers late. Luckily, a wily bird is on the scene to help, albeit with a mix of songs and feathers.
Tickets cost $20. The performance, which is suggested for Pre-K to Second Grade, runs about an hour with no intermission.
Willems, the playwright, is also the creator of the Caldecott Honor Award-winning Pigeon picture books. The music is by Deborah Wicks La Puma, one of history’s most produced Theatre for Young Audiences artists. Her works include “She Persisted: The Musical,” “Elephant and Piggie’s: We are in a Play!,” and “Naked Mole Rat Gets Dressed: The Rock Experience.”
Established in 1967, TheaterWorksUSA has led the Theater for Young and Family Audiences movement in New York City and across North America. The nonprofit has a repertoire of more than 140 original plays and musicals.
Queens Theatre is located at 14 United Nations Ave. S. inside Flushing Meadows Corona Park. A free parking lot is nearby.
