Darryl “D.M.C.” McDaniels is coming home…and he’s bringing treats.
The famous rapper will unveil Darryl Makes Cookies at Queens Night Market on Saturday, July 20.
Visitors will get a chance to meet the legend who will sign bags of his chocolate chip cookies whose package states: “Each bite is a harmonious symphony of rich, velvety chocolate and buttery, golden brown cookie dough.”
Hey, you never know, maybe he’ll bust some rhymes, too.
The following day, July 21, D.M.C. and Yonkers native Jadakiss will headline D.M.C. & Friends in Flushing Meadows Corona Park (Grand Central Parkway between 111th Street and College Point Boulevard). Scheduled for 5 pm to 9 pm, the concert is presented by Capital One City Parks Foundation SummerStage in partnership with Queens Borough President Donovan Richards Jr. Other scheduled performers are The Hoodies and Statik Selektah.
Queens Night Market operates behind the New York Hall of Science on Saturday nights from April to Halloween. It maintains a unique $5/$6 price cap on all food items.
Run-D.M.C.
Sporting thick gold chains, high top sneakers, and Kangol hats, D.M.C. partnered with Jason “Jam Master Jay” Mizell and Joseph “DJ Run” Simmons to form Run-D.M.C., the first rap group to achieve mainstream success. The Hollis-based pioneers broke out with “It’s Like That” in 1983 and crossed over with a Hip Hop version of Aerosmith’s Rock-n-Roll song “Walk This Way” in 1986. They never looked back during a three-decade career that included winning a Lifetime Achievement Grammy and joining the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame.
In addition to music, D.M.C. co-authored two autobiographies and a children’s book, Darryl’s Dream, while also founding Darryl Makes Comics and the indie music label King of Rock Entertainment. He’s also a co-founder of The Felix Organization, a nonprofit that strives to enrich the lives of children in the foster care system.
