Bring your sleeping bag. There’s a great weekend of entertainment at LeFrak Concert Hall.
Former SNL star Molly Kearney moderates a chat with Emmy-winning Daily Show host and stand-up comedian Jordan Klepper there on Friday, March 14, at 8 pm.
Then, the Brooklyn Raga Massive brings down the house with modern day adaptations of classical Indian music on Saturday, March 15, at 8 pm.
Friday
Put simply, Klepper is funny. Successful, too. His Emmy shares space in his trophy case with a Walter Cronkite Award and a Webby. He’s also behind the Comedy Central docuseries Klepper, the one-hour special Jordan Klepper Solves Guns, and countless other TV shows and newspaper articles.
His interviewer, Kearney, is no slouch in the funny department, either. She was a member of the Saturday Night Live cast in 2022 after being selected for Comedy Central’s Up Next showcase in 2019.
So it looks like some punny business. Ticket prices run from $50 to $60.
Saturday
Then on March 15, Brooklyn Raga takes the audience on a stunning journey through traditional Indian music, U.S. minimalism, and deep Jazz.
Originating from a 2012 jam session, Brooklyn Raga is actually a nonprofit that strives to create cross-cultural understanding through South Asian music. Performances are educational, enjoyable, and even transcendent.
On this night, the talent consists of Neel Murgai (sitar), Arun Ramamurthy (violin), Damon Banks (electric bass), Kane Mathis (oud, kora), Mir Naqibul Islam (tabla), and Aaron Shragge (trumpet, shakuhachi).
Admission is $25.
LeFrak Concert Hall is near the intersection of Horace Harding Expressway and Kissena Boulevard in Flushing. A few free parking lots are in the exact vicinity.
