#Newsflash | Astoria Park Hosts a Concert Series + a Movie Series

Taco Tuesdays can stay, but Mondays are now for watching and Thursdays are now for listening.

That’s because the Waterfront Concert Series presents live music on four Thursdays from July 10 to July 31, and the Waterfront Movie Series screens films on four Mondays from July 28 to Aug. 18.

Both programs are free and set to unfold in Astoria Park’s North Lawn, which borders Ditmars Boulevard, Shore Boulevard, and 19th Street.

Waterfront Concert Series

Shows start at 7:30 pm.
July 10: BonJourney, a Rock-and-Roll band that favors Bon Jovi and Journey.
July 17: Men of Soul, a night of Soul and R&B with covers of such legends as Teddy Pendergrass and Earth Wind & Fire.
July 24: CC&TheBoys, a tribute to Country, Southern Rock, and Bluegrass.
July 31: The Sky High Band, a female-fronted group that plays popular music.

Waterfront Movie Series

Films begin around sundown.
July 28: Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone, a 2001 adaptation of the first book in J.K. Rowling’s famous fantasy series.
Aug. 4: Grease, a 1978 musical with John Travolta and Olivia Newton John as improbable high school sweethearts.
Aug. 11: Inside Out 2, a 2024 coming-of-age animation with Amy Poehler as the voice actor for one of the main characters.
Aug. 18: Legally Blonde, a 2001 romantic comedy starring Reese Witherspoon.

If movies and music don’t interest you, head to Astoria Park for a one-acre outdoor pool, running tracks, dog runs, skate ramps, tennis courts, basketball courts, and pick-up ultimate frisbee games.

The Central Astoria LDC presents WCS and WMS with funding allotments from City Council Member Tiffany Cabán and the NYC Department of Cultural Affairs.

Editor’s note: Central Astoria LDC’s summer programs usually take place in Astoria Park’s Great Lawn. However, the area is closed due to renovations until next year.
