Astoria is a special place. The northwestern Queens neighborhood is extremely diverse, but it’s also eclectic with authentic ethnic restaurants, hot cultural institutions, wacky architecture, beautiful parks, and a unique history.
Learn (and taste) more at the New York Adventure Club’s Secret Eats of Astoria Food Crawl on Sunday, Feb. 18, at noon.
Susan Mills Birnbaum, a licensed NYC guide, food lover, and history buff, will lead the estimated 2.5-hour stroll which mixes spanakopita, arepa, pianos, and museums.
The fun begins at Akropolis Meat Market at 31-04 30th Ave. and ends at Bohemian Hall & Beer Garden at 29-19 24th Ave.
In addition to eating (a lot!), participants can expect to learn about immigration, demographics, music, film, and Athens Square, where Aristotle and Socrates sculptures overlook skateboarders, bench sitters, and playground enthusiasts.
The $59 price includes tastings.
