#Newsflash | Artist Cherie Corso Creates Queens Canvas at the Unisphere on May 20

All are invited to participate in an ongoing, citywide art project that’ll make its Queens debut on Tuesday, May 20.

Cherie Corso will work on a large-scale, 5×5-foot canvas at the Unisphere in Flushing Meadows Corona Park at noon.

Then, the piece will move through neighborhoods across the borough, evolving as it absorbs each community’s rhythm, stories, and presence.

The May 20 event is free, and the goal is to create a living, breathing work of art that celebrates the power of people, place, and connection. It’s also the Queens leg of The Pulse of New York, Corso’s public art initiative that endeavors to create a canvas in each of the five boroughs.

Corso begins each piece in her studio, then she rolls it out onto the streets. The public is invited to walk across the art tarp, leaving behind footprints and messages. She traces and transforms these marks into vivid, collaborative works that reflect NYC’s soul.

“Every person matters. Every step counts,” stated Corso. “We all contribute to the city in our own way—and this project is about capturing that energy, moment by moment, footprint by footprint.”

Based in Westchester County, Corso is a former model, marketing entrepreneur, lifestyle coach, beauty expert, and Reiki master who launched The Pulse of New York in 2024. She’s hoping to unveil the finished project with a party before hanging all five canvases at the Brooklyn Museum.
