Figaro! Figaro! Figaro!
The Metropolitan Opera’s 2025 Summer Recital Series returns to Socrates Sculpture Park on Sunday, June 15, at 6:30 pm.
Okay, okay, nobody is going to sing “Figaro,” but this 16th annual presentation will showcase four rising stars from the Met’s Lindemann Young Artist Development Program in a beautiful outdoor space.
The show, which runs about 90 minutes, is free and no registration is required.
Soprano Tessa McQueen, mezzo-soprano Hannah Jones, and bass-baritone Sunghoon Han will take the stage at Socrates Park for arias, duets, and other classical favorites. Mariam Bombrun, who’s in her first year with the Lindemann Program just like the other three performers, will provide the piano accompaniment.
McQueen made her Met debut as Countess Ceprano in Verdi’s Rigoletto. She’s currently singing the Priestess in Verdi’s Aida. Jones made her Met debut as one of the Voices of the Unborn in Die Frau ohne Schatten by Strauss. She was also a member of the Denyce Graves Foundation’s inaugural Shared Voices program. Han will perform in the Patron Concert and Met Orchestra Workshop with Maestro Yannick Nézet-Séguin. Bombrun will make her music staff debut as an Assistant Conductor for Le Nozze di Figaro and present the annual spring recital series at the New York Public Library for the Performing Arts.
Socrates Park’s main entrance is at 32-01 Vernon Blvd.’ in Long Island City. There’s no venue parking.
The Metropolitan Opera’s 2025 Summer Recital Series is presented in collaboration with Capital One City Parks Foundation SummerStage. It’s funded by the Elizabeth B. McGraw Foundation, in honor of Mrs. McGraw and her son, John. Additional support comes from public funds from the NYC Department of Cultural Affairs in partnership with the City Council and in collaboration with NYC Parks.
