Victor Prado is the project manager for Neighborhood 360°, a Small Business Service program that QEDC administers in multiple Astoria corridors. Born in Queens to Brazilian parents, he currently lives in Sunnyside. Here are some of his favorite things about the world’s most diverse borough.
Good Eats
All my favorite restaurants are in Astoria: Copacabana for Brazilian cuisine; Chela & Garnacha for tacos; and Susuru Ramen for Japanese deliciousness.
Wander Streets
Astoria Park, Sunnyside Gardens, and the Long Island City Pier. Each one has its own beauty and charm. All are great for walking.
Historic Feats
I love the diverse origins of Queens neighborhoods, always rooted in waves of immigrant settlers. With my heritage, I really appreciate the Brazilian restaurants, stores, and community in Astoria. Let me add that Spider-Man is from Forest Hills. What’s more historic than that?
Unique Treats
We have true microcosms here, and people help each other. My apartment window is directly across the street from a pizzeria. I called once to test my line of sight, and I could see an employee pick up the phone. What is more NYC than that?
