#PickoftheWeek: Grease Sing-a-Long on Halloween
BY Michael Gillen
This Halloween event and you go together like “Rama Lama Lama Ka Dinga Da Dinga Dong.”
Flushing Town Hall will host sing-a-longs to the John Travolta/Olivia Newton-John film Grease on Monday, October 31, at 4 pm and 8 pm.
That’s right. Participants will dress up as their favorite characters from the classic 1978 musical and (maybe) drive their T-birds to the Northern Boulevard arts center to sing and dance as the film and lyrics show on a big screen.
Consider it a Rydell High School reunion. Danny will be there. Ditto for Sandy and Pinky Tuscadero. In fact, many of the Greasers (Kenickie, Doody, Sonny, and Putzie) and the Pink Ladies (Rizzo, Frenchy, Marty, and Jan) are expected to make the schlep as well.
They’ll dust off their leather jackets and poodle skirts and style their hair with copious amounts of oily products. And just to make sure everything goes smoothly, the evening will begin with a vocal warm-up and hand jive practice. Then it’s all “Shoobop Sha Wadda Wadda Yippity Boom De Boom” and “Chang Chang Changitty Chang Shoobop.”
The event is open to all ages, and prices are $13 for one adult and $8 for one child. Flushing Town Hall will provide goodie bags filled with props for only $2.
Plus, Flushing Town Hall is giving away six pairs of tickets to the extravaganza via a Queens Tourism Council sweepstakes. Enter here: http://woobox.com/hngyxs
