#PickoftheWeek | Up-and-Coming Musicians to Showcase Skills in Flushing on Thursday
BY QEDC It's In Queens
Queens College is about to become a combat zone.
The Battle of the Bands will fill the Flushing university’s 2,100-seat Colden Auditorium with sweet music on Thursday, July 27, starting at 7 pm.
Organized by Queens Library and Kupferberg Center for the Arts, this third annual summer competition will feature six groups that will match notes in front of an enthusiastic audience of family members, friends, fans, and music lovers as they vie for gift cards and a chance to perform at an upcoming concert in Forest Park.
Plus, rapper Torae will serve as master of ceremonies. Born and raised in Coney Island, Torae, who is also known as “Da Young Veteran,” has provided red carpet coverage of the BET Hip Hop Awards for the last three years.
Free tickets are still available.
